New state-of-the-art Commercial Laundry opens for business at Minda Incorporated
Published 31st August 2006
After almost two years of planning and $2.1 million dollars later, Minda’s newest commercial operation was officially opened by the Hon. John Cobb MP, Federal Minister for Community Services.
The new laundry, which is a welcome addition to Minda’s Commercial operations and replaces the original and smaller laundry, is fully funded by Minda.
With the capacity to handle up to 18 tonnes of laundry per week, with help from Applied Australia's Solid Laundry range of products, the new facility is expecting to undertake new commercial contracts.
“A great deal of prior planning and consideration has gone into the design and operational layout of the new laundry facility from a commercial perspective and also with consideration for our supported employees." CEO of Minda Incorporated, Phil Martin said today.
The laundry currently employs 40 staff and employees with intellectual disabilities, with capacity to increase the number of positions as our commercial contracts grow. Our supported employees love the opportunity to come to work each day and to make a positive contribution, so it has been very important for us to build a new facility they can be justifiably proud of.

We are pleased that the Federal Government recognises the opening of “Laundry Services by Minda”, as a significant step to improve opportunities for our supported employees to participate actively in the workforce and the official opening of the facility by Minister Cobb today is very much appreciated.”
